ONLINE THERAPY THAT HONORS YOUR ROOTS
Being a cycle breaker means you’re doing the work your family didn’t have the tools, time, or permission to do. It’s the choice to face inherited patterns—emotional silence, shame around mental health, constant self-sacrifice—and begin creating space for your own healing.
As a bilingual, bicultural therapist, I blend lived experience with professional knowledge to support a diverse range of individuals who carry both the strengths and the unspoken pressures of their upbringing. I believe there’s a powerful generational thread that shapes how we navigate challenges. Therapy is where we begin to loosen what no longer fits and strengthen what helps us grow.

About Sonia Castro-Castillo
LPC, ATR

Growing up, you could find me in the self-help aisle of my local library, holding some version of Chicken Soup for the Soul. I was drawn to the storytelling and kept returning for the emotional portrayal of different life experiences—many of which I had never encountered before. As a child of immigrants, conversations about feelings were rare in my household, and that absence sparked a deep curiosity to better understand myself and others. In high school, I enrolled in AP Psychology to explore the inherited and learned factors that shape our experiences in the world. That curiosity eventually led me to pursue a career in the mental health field. Now, as a licensed professional counselor and registered art therapist, I can say that my curiosity has been fulfilled in many ways. I also recognize that curiosity is a lifelong practice—one I continue to approach with the same wonder and commitment I had as a child.
